Thorough diagnostic assessment, medical history review, and collaborative treatment planning before starting any medication.
Evidence-based prescribing tailored to the individual, including consideration of prior medication trials, genetic factors, medical conditions, and patient preference.
Regular follow-up appointments to assess therapeutic response, side effects, and lab work. We adjust early and often rather than waiting months to see if something works.
When medications are no longer needed, we manage gradual dose reductions to minimize withdrawal and rebound symptoms.
We work with primary care providers, therapists, and specialists to ensure medications are safe and effective alongside other treatments.
RxTeq specializes in substance use recovery, including the use of FDA-approved medications for opioid use disorder. These medications reduce cravings, prevent withdrawal, and support long-term recovery:
Buprenorphine (Suboxone, Sublocade, Brixadi, Zubsolv) — Available as daily sublingual tablets or film and as monthly extended-release injections. Buprenorphine reduces cravings and withdrawal symptoms while allowing patients to function normally.
Naltrexone (Vivitrol) — A monthly extended-release injection that blocks opioid receptors entirely. Naltrexone is appropriate for patients who have completed detoxification and are committed to abstinence-based recovery. Also FDA-approved for alcohol use disorder.
Long-acting injectables (LAIs) are medications given by injection on a set schedule — every two weeks, monthly, every three months, or even every six months — so patients do not need to remember a daily pill. LAIs are available for both psychiatric conditions and substance use disorders:
Aripiprazole (Abilify Maintena, Aristada), paliperidone (Invega Sustenna, Invega Trinza, Invega Hafyera), risperidone (Risperdal Consta, Uzedy, Perseris), and olanzapine (Zyprexa Relprevv). Used for schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and bipolar disorder maintenance.
Buprenorphine extended-release (Sublocade, Brixadi) and naltrexone extended-release (Vivitrol) for opioid and alcohol use disorders.
LAIs can be especially helpful for patients who have difficulty with daily medication routines, those with frequent relapses, or anyone who simply prefers fewer things to keep track of.
Buprenorphine induction protocols, symptom-directed comfort medications, and close monitoring during the acute withdrawal period.
Outpatient-appropriate protocols using benzodiazepines, anticonvulsants, and supportive medications, with clear safety monitoring and criteria for higher-level referral.
Symptom management and psychiatric stabilization for patients withdrawing from methamphetamine, cocaine, cannabis, or polysubstance use.
Once stable, patients transition into ongoing medication management, therapy, and community support services as needed.
Psychotherapy at RxTeq is provided by master’s-level licensed therapists who bring both clinical training and genuine human connection to the work. Therapy is not just for people in crisis — it is for anyone who wants to understand themselves better, build coping skills, or work through something that has been sitting on them for a while.
Our therapists use evidence-based approaches tailored to each person’s needs, goals, and comfort level. Sessions are available in person at our Taos and Raton offices or by telehealth from anywhere in New Mexico.
• Individual Therapy — One-on-one sessions for adults, adolescents, and children addressing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship issues, life transitions, substance use, and more.
• Family Therapy — Sessions that bring family members together to improve communication, address conflict, support a family member in treatment, or navigate major changes.
• Group Therapy — Structured group sessions focused on shared experiences such as substance use recovery, trauma, or skill-building.
Our therapists are trained in a range of evidence-based modalities, including:
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — Identifies and changes unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors. One of the most researched and effective approaches for depression, anxiety, and substance use.
• Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) — Teaches skills for managing intense emotions, improving relationships, and tolerating distress. Particularly effective for borderline personality disorder, self-harm, and chronic suicidality.
• Trauma-Focused Therapy — Including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and trauma-focused CBT for PTSD and complex trauma.
• Motivational Interviewing — A collaborative approach that helps people explore and resolve ambivalence about change, commonly used in substance use treatment.
• Solution-Focused Brief Therapy — A goal-directed approach that focuses on what is working and builds on strengths rather than dwelling on problems.
• Play Therapy — For younger children who express themselves more naturally through play than conversation.
Our therapists work closely with our psychiatric provider to coordinate care. When someone is receiving both medication and therapy, the left hand knows what the right hand is doing.
CCSS is a Medicaid-funded behavioral health program available to children, adolescents, and adults in New Mexico. It is not therapy and it is not psychiatry — it is hands-on, real-world support delivered where people actually live, learn, and work.
CCSS provides skill-building, care coordination, and community-based support to help people with behavioral health conditions function more independently in their daily lives. Services are delivered by trained Community Support Workers (CSWs) under clinical supervision, and they happen wherever the person needs them — at home, at school, in the community, or at our offices.
This is not a one-size-fits-all program. Each person receives an individualized service plan based on a comprehensive assessment of their strengths, needs, and goals. Plans are reviewed regularly and adjusted as people make progress or as needs change.
CCSS is available to New Mexico Medicaid recipients who have a qualifying behavioral health diagnosis and functional impairment that affects their ability to manage daily life. That includes:
• Children and Adolescents — Kids and teens struggling with emotional or behavioral challenges at home, in school, or in their community. CSWs can work alongside teachers in the classroom, support families at home, and help young people develop coping skills, social skills, and daily living skills in real-world settings.
• Adults — Adults with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, or co-occurring conditions who need support with independent living, employment, social functioning, or navigating community resources. This includes adults involved with the justice system who need treatment-focused support during probation, re-entry, or court-ordered programs.
Community Support Workers are the backbone of the CCSS program. They provide direct, in-person support tailored to each person’s service plan:
• Skill-Building — Teaching and practicing coping skills, communication skills, anger management, problem-solving, daily living skills, social skills, and self-advocacy.
• Care Coordination — Connecting individuals and families with community resources such as housing, transportation, employment services, food assistance, and other social services.
• School-Based Support — Working with children in the classroom alongside teachers, supporting behavioral goals, and coordinating between families, schools, and treatment providers.
• Crisis Support — Helping with de-escalation, safety planning, and connecting to crisis resources when needed.
• Family Engagement — Involving family members in service planning and providing support and education to strengthen the home environment.
• Justice System Coordination — Supporting individuals involved with treatment courts, probation, or juvenile services with skill-building and community integration.
CCSS does not operate in a silo. Our CSWs coordinate directly with RxTeq’s psychiatric provider and therapists so that medication management, therapy, and community support are all working toward the same goals. For many of our patients, this integrated approach — psychiatry, therapy, and CCSS together — is what makes the difference between just getting by and actually getting better.
CCSS is a New Mexico Medicaid benefit. Services are provided at no cost to eligible individuals enrolled in Medicaid. RxTeq handles all eligibility verification and authorization. If you or someone you know may benefit from CCSS, contact our office and we will help determine eligibility and get services started.
Whether you need psychiatric care, therapy, community support, or all three, we are here to help. We accept Medicaid and most major insurance plans. Services are available in person at our Taos and Raton locations or by telehealth throughout New Mexico.
